Do you have to submit your data each and every time after you scan? Or can you scan multiple servers / factions to which all of them would get credit for the one submission?
Just curious, because I play on multiple servers, and enjoy to run census constantly while I'm playing.. but am not too big of a fan of logging off the game in order to submit data.
Great tool!

You can scan multiple times on various realms and factions and upload your stuff all at once.
It really doesn't matter since the mod tracks data across all realms and factions. But remember, the more you submit the more accurate the data will be so submit often! _________________

But no more then once an hour... or you will overwrite your previous submission.
If you are trying to get credit for updates then 2-4x per day is good, depending on your playing time.
If you are trying to help with accurate counts then 1-7x per week is good.
If you play(run census+) on one server only then a daily submission will probably keep your server/faction off the blinky red list http://warcraftrealms.com/server_submissions.php

You don't have to log off the game to update the SavedVariables file for submission, you just need to log off the character.
A good time to submit data is after logging from one toon and switching to another toon on a different realm.. ( won't make any sense if it was same realm/faction..) |

I try to upload once each night, so that it will show as much of a character's progress as possible.
For example, imagine following scenario for some random character:
WR shows the given character as level 32.,
Monday, I run a census and find him as level 34.
Tuesday, I run a census and find him as level 35..
Then on Friday someone else on the server runs a census and finds the same character at 37. He uploads the data immediately.
Saturday, I upload my census. My data file has no record of him at 34, only at 35. My data file is processed after the one other one, and this data point is ignored because WarcraftRealms already has record of that character at 37. When someone views that character's profile, it will show him jumping from 32 to 37.
I'm not sure if it really works as my illustration above, but I know I've made submissions that credit me with 0 updated characters, and I've always assumed that was because I submitted mine right after Drazen, or some other horde player on Silvermoon who submits censuses.
In any case, if I am playing regularly, I submit once each evening, and it seems to go pretty well. _________________

You need to keep the file under about 10MB. |
