oooh sounds interesting, it would be advantageous for non GM's to read it too, more awareness about the amount, and all the various aspects of, 'giving', that the GM and Officers commit to.

It's a nice book. I was already an avid reader of the Officer's Quarters column on, so I have found it to be a nice read!

The book spends a long long time talking about that actually, how to deal with punishing your guildies, and the answer is there is no perfect way. Let's say someone joins my guild and becomes friends with A, B, and C but D & E, two close friends dislikes player Z (the new person).

Player Z makes fun of player D's mother in guild chat, player D & E flip out. A, B, and C recognize this but will flip out if you kick Z out of the guild. D & E are threatening to leave if you don't throw Z out of the guild.

The book plays through a scenario where he kept player Z, but had to eventually get rid of Z, A, B, and C and regretted being so lenient.

Personally, I think each guild has an expiration date. Very few will last past the time the drama causes a split.
